Remember a while back when I wrote a post about hiking Mt. Herman?
Well I lied.
We actually didn’t hike Mt. Herman, we hiked in Mt. Herman Open Space. (I should have known that seeing as the entire hike was flat.)
Yesterday my friend Jamie and I hiked the real Mt. Herman. It was definitely not flat. In fact, here is a picture of the mountain. The trail goes straight up the back of it.
I, being brilliant, figured that since it was supposed to be 75 degrees I could hike in sandals. I’m dumb.
Here’s the view from the top. See the horizon line? That’s Kansas.
And here is Pikes Peak, our Fourteener. Beautiful, as always.
I like the view of western Colorado more than the view of eastern Colorado. Either way, kudos for you for making the hike successfully in sandals.
She’s a happy dog! Ruby’s a fat dog. They need to hang out. WE need to hang out, for that matter. I miss you!

Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Placa de Vídeo, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://placa-de-video.blogspot.com. A hug.
No kidding, Kelly. We’ll gladly give eastern Colorado to Kansas. As far as the sandals thing, there were sections of snow and sections without it. I only fell once, though. :)And Carolyn, want to meet me in Hawaii in a couple weeks?
Beautiful views. Amazing. And I can not believe you managed to make that hike in sandals! You are so brave, and seriously crazy. LOL – I don’t think I could have made it 10 feet in sandals. Heavens, I couldn’t have made it 10 feet in hiking boots! Great Job! 🙂
Aww thanks Steph. Hiking in sandals is about as hardcore as I get. 🙂
Hey, I hiked Mt. Herman the same day, and I saw you driving down. You see, I, being dumb, said to my husband, “This hike doesn’t look that hard, let’s park a mile away down the road and hike from there….” So I was that dumb girl hiking on the road you passed on your way down.
That was you, Amber! You guys must have hiked FOR-EVVVV-ER!
