Mt. Herman, for reals this time.

Remember a while back when I wrote a post about hiking Mt. Herman?

Well I lied.

We actually didn’t hike Mt. Herman, we hiked in Mt. Herman Open Space. (I should have known that seeing as the entire hike was flat.)

Yesterday my friend Jamie and I hiked the real Mt. Herman. It was definitely not flat. In fact, here is a picture of the mountain. The trail goes straight up the back of it.

I, being brilliant, figured that since it was supposed to be 75 degrees I could hike in sandals. I’m dumb.

Here’s the view from the top. See the horizon line? That’s Kansas.

And here is Pikes Peak, our Fourteener. Beautiful, as always.

Havana, looking regal.

  1. No kidding, Kelly. We’ll gladly give eastern Colorado to Kansas. As far as the sandals thing, there were sections of snow and sections without it. I only fell once, though. :)And Carolyn, want to meet me in Hawaii in a couple weeks?

  2. Beautiful views. Amazing. And I can not believe you managed to make that hike in sandals! You are so brave, and seriously crazy. LOL – I don’t think I could have made it 10 feet in sandals. Heavens, I couldn’t have made it 10 feet in hiking boots! Great Job! 🙂

  3. Hey, I hiked Mt. Herman the same day, and I saw you driving down. You see, I, being dumb, said to my husband, “This hike doesn’t look that hard, let’s park a mile away down the road and hike from there….” So I was that dumb girl hiking on the road you passed on your way down.
